21 September 2018: The Pakman Awards, powered by Repak, has announced the shortlist of nominees for 2018. Amongst those shortlisted this year are Repak members Insomnia Coffee Company, Tesco Ireland, Sandymount Hotel, Aldi, Lidl and Dell EMC, as well as community projects such as FoodCloud, Ennis Tidy Town and initiatives such as CupPrint.
Now in its fourth year, the Pakman Awards is held annually and seeks to find and celebrate Ireland’s recycling and waste management champions. Winning a Pakman Awards category is one of the highest accolades an organisation, company, community group or individual in Ireland can receive for their environmental and sustainability efforts.
The Pakman Award, which is the overall winner’s prize, will be presented at the Intercontinental Hotel on Thursday 25th October. This award is applicable to each winner from the 15 categories and will be awarded to an outstanding contribution made by an Irish organisation, company, community group or individual to the environment.
A new category introduced to the 2018 awards programme is ‘Tyre Champion’, sponsored by Repak ELT, which will be contended this year by finalists Ballinsaloe Tyre Centre, Crossmore Tyre Recycling Ltd and Togher Tyres. Guest judge, Chanelle, Lady McCoy will once again lead the Pakman judging panel to select a winner for the ‘Innovation in Waste Management’ award.
Commenting on the 2018 Pakman Awards nominations announcement Repak CEO, Séamus Clancy said: “I am delighted to announce the 2018 Pakman Awards nominations shortlist, in a year where we have seen a record number of entries. There has been a steady increase in entries since the foundation of the Pakman Awards in 2014, resulting in the introduction of a new category, ‘Tyre Champion’, to this year’s awards programme.
It’s fantastic to see businesses, community groups and individuals from all over Ireland putting innovative and inspiring recycling practices into place and we are proud to showcase these excellent initiatives. We look forward to welcoming all finalists to the 2018 Pakman Awards on October 25th for what promises to be a fantastic night’.
