Danone achieves zero waste to landfill 2 years ahead of target
Danone is a leading global food & beverage company built on three businesses: Essential Dairy and PlantBased Products, Waters and Specialised Nutrition. The Danone vision is ‘One Planet. One Health’, and has committed to recycling, reusing or composting all of its packaging by 2025.
In 2017, Danone Wexford started work on a Waste Management Project to achieve zero waste to landfill by 2020. Similar to the idea of segregating and recycling household waste, this was implemented in the factory setting to great effect, achieving zero waste to landfill ahead of time in 2018. Danone Dairy has also received BCorp accreditation, a globally recognised accreditation awarded to businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance and public transparency, while staff have signed up to a scheme called ‘Do nation’ where they make specific pledges around how they can improve their recycling habits.
