Tom Shipsey appointed new chair of Repak

The Board of Repak Ltd. today announced the appointment of Tom Shipsey as the new Chair of Repak with effect from 8th October 2021. Tom succeeds Tony Keohane, who steps down on 7th October, having served as Chair for 9 years.

Tom joined the Board of Repak in 2019, with a wealth of experience in the retail industry, and is currently CEO of Stonehouse Marketing Ltd, a wholly Irish independent Retail Food and Catering Cash & Carry Group with a network of 27 depots nationwide.

A native of Waterford, Tom holds a BAgrSc from UCD, and an MSc in Executive Leadership from the University of Ulster. He is the former Chair and Company Secretary of Concern Worldwide, Ireland’s largest overseas charity, operating in over 26 of the most vulnerable countries of the world, with a staff of 3,000 and turnover of over €180 million. At present, Tom also sits on the Board of Kelsius, an Irish Company which provides wireless temperature monitoring and digital HACCP management systems for the food service and healthcare industries.

Tom has a huge interest in how Boards incorporate good governance into the activities of the Board and Company, and became Ireland’s first Chartered Director in 2001.

Séamus Clancy, Repak CEO commented ‘I am delighted to welcome Tom as Chair of Repak and as a serving Member of the Board, I know his knowledge and experience will provide important continuity as we position Repak for continued growth and success in prioritising sustainability in Ireland.

In what has been a challenging 18 months, we have a clear strategy on how to take the organisation forward and I have no doubt that Tom’s input will be both progressive and insightful. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Tony Keohane for his invaluable contribution since joining the Board in 2013.’

Tom commented It is a privilege to be appointed Chair of the Repak Board, particularly at such a pivotal time for the environmental industry and Repak as an organisation. As we emerge from the Covid 19 pandemic, there is a greater awareness of the environment and the need to protect and advocate for a new circular economy. I look forward to working with Séamus and the Board to implement our strategic plans and represent our Members nationwide.’
