Since 1997, our members have invested over €350 million through Repak to support packaging recycling in Ireland, and have helped to grow packaging recycling and recovery from under 15% in 1998 to 90% in 2016, with Ireland is now ranked one of the top performers in Europe for packaging recycling amongst the EU 27.

ALDO hold themselves to a high standard when it comes to waste diversion and reducing the overall waste sent to landfills from all its owned stores and facilities - its long-term goal is to generate zero waste. From its zero-waste campus cafeteria to paperless pay slips for all associates, it is continuously rethinking its daily practices so it can reduce waste at the source and expand recycling where facilities exist. ALDO teams are also designing smarter and more sustainable packaging to decrease product packaging waste before the product even reaches its customers’ homes.

In all River Island stores, offices and warehouses it is committed to operating in a way that is mindful of the demand on the planet's limited resources. River Island has incorporated the use of renewable energy sources into its operations and reduced the levels of product packaging. River Island also recycles and uses biodegradable materials whenever possible.

Monsoon is constantly looking for ways to reduce waste and increase recycling across the business. Its recent initiatives include the use of rainwater harvesting and expanded recycling facilities in its Head Office, removing any unnecessary packaging from its products and using only FSC paper and biodegradable plastic wherever possible.
