BIC has focused on three priorities for reducing the environmental footprint of its packaging: eliminate packaging whenever possible, select environmentally responsible materials and reduce and recycle packaging waste in the factories.
For Viking Direct, zero waste to landfill was achieved for the third consecutive year. It recycled 87% of the waste generated, narrowly missing the 90% target. In 2017 it plans to send the general waste and mixed recycling from its head office facility to a mixed recycling facility (MRF) for pre-treatment, therefore separating more recyclate before the balance goes to waste to energy.
An Post continues to achieve extremely high levels of recycling rates, of over 90% since implementing a waste management system across the company in 2010 which requires it all to segregate and stream its waste.
Bandon Office Supplies use less power, less waste and no harmful chemicals or cleaning materials which is more friendly to the environment and reduces turnaround times.
